Is it Really Worth the Money to go to Hair Salons?
By: Phoenix Delray

Perhaps you are one of the many people who have looked in the mirror, decided that you needed a haircut, then werent sure if you wanted to spend the time and money in actually going to hair salons. There are countless numbers of people who have wondered if the money and time that they spend (not to mention the trust they put in their stylists) are worthy investments or not. Although there will always be some people who claim that the trips are a waste of money, the simple fact is this: If you want a fantastic haircut that looks great and is done with professional tools by professional hands, you must go to a professional.

Hair salons may have gotten a bad rap in recent years, especially since the days of grunge when so many people thought that the look that was all the rave was the no wash, no comb, no cut look. In days gone by, a woman of any higher class did not dare miss appointments with her hair salon. However, although that has changed some, it is still recommended that people visit their professional for at least a trim every six weeks. Although this is the professional recommendation that everyone goes along with, many do not follow.

It may be surprising at first to hear the fact that in general men visit hair salons more than women do. When you stop and think about why, though, it is easy to explain. When a womans hair grows out one fourth of an inch, people will rarely notice, and two or three months may zoom by without her realizing that it has been so long since she last saw her professional stylist. However, a guy who sports a short (or even not too short) do will notice immediately once that one fourth of an inch has come in, because it will completely change the way that he looks. That is all that it will take to send him off and running to one of his fave hair salons to get it trimmed up.

Many people might think that if someone can use a comb and a pair of scissors they can just cut their hair themselves. Unfortunately this is the very thinking that causes those people to seriously mess up their hairstyle. Professionals have to go to school for a long time to learn precise techniques with specific tools to achieve the looks that are done correctly, and not just anyone can look at a picture and duplicate that look with a comb and scissors. The truth is that the profession of hairstyling and cutting is much more complicated and much more difficult than it looks, so do not make the mistake of thinking that you (or your best friend) can easily duplicate a great haircut, because chances are pretty good that youll need the expertise of professionals at hair salons to fix the mess that you have created!
